Now that Elliott's mobile- and fast- if I stand in the same place more than 15 seconds, he is pulling up on my pants, trying to climb my leg to get to me. Josh says that he doesn't do this to him during the day, just to me in the evenings. I'm sure it has something to do with an insecurity I've created by being gone at work all day, or something [insert mommy guilt here]. More likely, he wants to be firmly attached to me because I'm still his primary food source.

But, I'll let you in on a secret: I don't really actually mind the clinginess. I mean, sometimes I can't pick him up right.now.this.minute. because the dishes need to be done, or I've got a full laundry basket in my hands, or I have to, you know, eat. But the rest of the time? I kinda like him on my hip. Sure, it makes things around the house get done slower, or get put off until he's asleep, but I try to remember: Babies don't keep.

My mother had (maybe still has) the last stanza of that poem stitched and it hung in our living room for years! so sweet. :)

Josiah does that to me- and I'm here all day. I think it's a phase. :) some days I like it, some days I don't.
