I have a female boxer mix that I need to find a home for.She is very
loving and energetic.Serious injures only.

I don't want a seriously injured boxer, nor one that seriously injures people.
But that's me.

Speaking of dogs causing serious injuries, check out Ashley's post about the pit-bull issue that is being dealt with in various communities around the country (and especially in Atlanta with the Vick drama, and around here in the Muncie area and beyond). An interesting issue to consider, especially for us dog-lovers.

I've known a couple pit bulls. I knew a couple that owned one up until recently. He was a sweet dog. Not exactly bright but very sweet. His personality wasn't threatening at all. In fact, I believe he was afraid of paper plates. Seriously, he hid if you got out the plates. But that doesn't change that fact that he was a big, very powerful dog (80 pounds of muscle). His threat wasn't in his personality, it was just what he was...a big, clumsy, tank. They ended up finding him a new home because they were afraid he'd accidentally injure their infant.

Anyway, Ashley's post mirrored my feelings pretty closely on the pit bull issue. I don't think a well nurtured pit bull is any more likely to bite than a non-pit bull. But there's no denying that a bite from a pit bull is likely to be a lot more serious than a bite from a Yorkie, a Spaniel, or a Lab. Part of that is size and part of that is the way in which they bite. As in Ashley's post, that simply means the owner needs to be all the more responsible in raising the dog. Sadly, there are a lot of dog owners (not just pit bull owners) that are terribly unresponsible.

Yes, when they DO bite, it's usually serious.

Seeing your use of hyphens made me think of the article I read that said the dictionary editors have and will continue to remove hyphens from all sorts of words in the dictionary, such as ice-cream.
What do you think of this trend? I don't use the hypen much.

When I was in a high school journalism class, I learned that multi-word adjectives should be hyphenated. So, "the pit-bull issue" is correct, but "dog-lovers" is not. "Lack-of-grammar/spelling-skills" should have been "lack-of-grammar/spelling skills". I guess I did get carried away.
