A Newsweek article by an author who spent a year trying to follow every rule in the Bible.
He didn't cut his beard. He observed the Sabbath. He looked for adulterers to stone.
NEWSWEEK: It’s been a little over a year since your experiment ended and you shaved your beard. How’s the life of sin?
A. J. Jacobs: It’s all right. I miss my sin-free life, but I guess I was never sin free. I was able to cut down on my coveting maybe 40 percent, but I was still a coveter. Flat-screen TVs, the front yard of my friend in the suburbs, a better cell phone, higher Amazon rankings. And that's not to mention coveting my neighbor's wife. I live in New York, I work in publishing, so there’s a lot of coveting, lying and gossiping.
Even someone trying harder-than-your-average-Christian can't measure up to God's law.
As it is written:
"There is no one righteous, not even one;
there is no one who understands,
no one who seeks God.
All have turned away,
they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
not even one."
Thank God for grace, and God's spirit indwelling us. This was an interesting experiment. Your thoughts?

That is a VERY interesting article. I also found it quite interesting he chose to follow the Old Testament and didn't even mention the New Testament. I wonder if he knows about it. I also LOVED the comment on the jehovah's witness.
I believe we can never measure up to someone God believes earned their way to heaven. I believe we can't live a sin free life, no matter how hard we try. I believe Christ is the way, the truth, and the light and we would be stuck eternally if Jesus Christ had not sacrificed Himself on the cross. So that all being what I believe...I think he had an interesting idea but had really not much to do with The Bible in as much as it had to do with the time of the Bible...does that make sense?
Ok, so I wasn't going to read the article, but I figured to make an intelligent comment, I should read it. But then I came up with too much to write, and so I am going to stop this comment and post on my blog. SO check it out in a few.

So, I guess he didn't follow every rule...
