It's that time of year again... Formula One is in Indy, international car fanatics are out in force, and my sister is wearing silly boots. Caroline's the one with the attitude on the far right.
You asked a few posts ago what your readers thought about ads. To be honest, I have been considering getting them myself. So obviously, they don't bother me. :-) I think as long as they're tasteful... I am totally supportive of someone wanting to get some income from their blog. How would you feel if I put ads on my site?
I think it would be fine, obviously. I don't like banners, so I'll stay away from those- I'll stick to text ads. What about the "sponsored posts", though? Is that tacky?
Sponsored posts are fine, as long as what you're writing is genuine. I think also it's important to keeping to the theme of your blog. For example, if you're preaching simplicity and frugality in one post and trying to push everyone to buy a Super Cool Unnecessary Gadget in the next, I think that would be a bit hypocritical. But otherwise sharing links to products or services that some of your readers might find useful is completely okay - and if you get kickbacks for it, then better for you!
Ideally it would be great if we could all blog for fun without worrying about money or anything, but alas nothing in life is free. And hey, I'm in the advertising business. :-) I can't put down my own career.
